NepFest Poster 2018

Overview

This beachy poster was part of a class festival campaign, with my selected festival being the annual Neptune Festival in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The festival is a multiple-day event, with live music, food, sand-sculpting competitions, volleyball, surfing, parades, fireworks, and more! The icon of the festival is a large bronze statue of the Greek god himself, though with this project, the idea was to portray Neptune as a cool, party-king character. Focusing on a snappier, cooler image, the festival was also shortened to the hashtag-able ‘Nepfest,’ and this poster is a reflection of that.

The Process

Part of a larger campaign bent on getting a younger demographic to the Neptune Festival, this poster embodies the concept of portraying the Neptune character as a cool party-bro. Using a photo of the Neptune Statue itself and giving him some shades just simply makes him look a lot more cool. The poster is not purely decorative, it also includes information on what kind of events are being held at the festival. The info is also quickly shown rather than told through the “bubbled” images, allowing viewers at a distance to quickly understand a piece of what goes on at NepFest.
